These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the CoursePilot Chrome extension, the hosted relay at canvasgoon-relay.canvasgoon.workers.dev, and related pages (together, the “Service”). By installing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, uninstall the extension and do not use the Service.
The Service is only for college students who are 18 or older. It is not designed for children and is not intended for K–12. Do not install or use it if you are under 18.
CoursePilot is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or a product of Instructure, Canvas, Gradescope, Piazza, or any school. Those names describe sites you already use. Do not treat CoursePilot as official school or vendor software.
CoursePilot is not an official client or API partner of Instructure, Gradescope, or Piazza. With your permission, it reads your existing signed-in session in this browser (cookies and CSRF tokens) so it can request your course materials as you. You do not paste a password or access token.
You are responsible for complying with your school’s rules and with the terms of Canvas, Gradescope, Piazza, and any other site you connect. Those providers may limit unofficial clients. CoursePilot does not grant you extra rights to those services.
The Service can organize coursework, retrieve materials you can already see, and generate study aids or drafts you asked for. CoursePilot never submits work to Canvas, Gradescope, or Piazza.
AI output is a reference. Submitting a draft or chat answer as your own work may violate your school’s honor code or academic-integrity policy. You decide what to turn in. You are solely responsible for how you use the Service in a course, including any disciplinary action.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the extension for your own coursework, subject to these Terms. You may not resell the Service, scrape it to build a competing product, or use it to access another person’s school account.
Cloud relay (the default) sends prompts you generate — for example assignment text, attached files, chat, and retrieved snippets — to the relay, then to OpenRouter and a model provider. Hosted usage is capped. You may use your own API key or local Ollama instead.
The Service is provided as-is. We may change, rate-limit, or discontinue features, models, or the relay without notice. We do not promise uptime, accuracy, or that generated text is correct or appropriate for a graded assignment.
Course materials stay in this browser unless you use hosted AI or opt in to analytics, as described in the Privacy Policy. You represent that you have the right to use those materials with the Service (for example, you are enrolled and the school already showed them to you). We do not claim ownership of your coursework.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that drafts, chat answers, or study decks are complete, accurate, or permitted in your course.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, COURSEPILOT AND ITS OPERATORS ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST GRADES, ACADEMIC DISCIPLINE, LOST DATA, OR LOST PROFITS, ARISING FROM THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE THREE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR TEN U.S. DOLLARS (US$10) IF YOU PAID NOTHING.
You will defend and indemnify CoursePilot and its operators against claims arising from your use of the Service, including honor-code or academic-integrity proceedings and claims that your use violated a school or vendor terms of service.
You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the extension and using Settings → Clear all data. We may suspend or end access if you breach these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Provisions that should survive (including academic integrity, disclaimers, liability limits, and indemnity) survive termination.
We may update these Terms by posting a new version at this URL. If a change is material, the extension will show an updated in-product notice and require acceptance before you continue. Continued use after that notice is acceptance of the new Terms.
